A Holistic, Evidence-Based Approach to Lasting Change
In this day and age, most people do not need more information.
Instead, they need support turning what they already know into habits that actually fit their lifestyle.
That is where health coaching comes in.
Unlike therapy, which often focuses on the past, diagnosing mental health conditions or processing trauma, health coaching is forward-focused and action-oriented. It is about where you are now and taking you where you want to be.
In simple terms:
Therapy explores the why, while Health Coaching supports the how.
Health coaching helps to bridge the gap between intention and action. Between “knowing what to do” and “how to do it” in real life.

What Exactly is Health Coaching?
Health coaching is a collaborative, client-centred partnership that is designed to supports behaviour change through goal setting, accountability, and whole-person integration.
A health coach does not tell you what to do or give you a plan. Instead, we work together to clarify what matters most to you, identify what has been getting in the way, and identify realistic steps to move forward.
This approach is evidence-based.
According to Harvard Health Publishing, health coaching has been shown to improve outcomes related to nutrition, physical activity, stress management, and chronic disease management.
For example:
- In one randomized controlled study, people with diabetes who received health coaching over 6 months experienced improved blood sugar control through diet and lifestyle changes.
- While a review of 12 randomized controlled trials found that health coaching helped to reduce blood pressure and improve diet and lifestyle behaviours.
Health coaching is not about quick fixes. It is about building habits that create lasting change.
My Approach to Health Coaching
As a Certified Transformational Nutrition Coach, Metabolic Balance Coach, and a cancer survivor, I know that health is more than just the physical body.
That is why my approach is rooted in a holistic, integrative model that addresses the three domains of health:
- Body – food, movement, sleep, energy, metabolism
- Mind – mindset, stress management, emotions, behavioural patterns
- Spirit – values, purpose, intuition, and connection
These three domains help to guide our work together and allow us to look at your health through a wider and more compassionate lens.

Coaching sessions are always client-led and goal-orientated. Some sessions may be more practical and cover nutrition, lifestyle and routines. While others may explore mindset, values or what feels out of alignment with your life.
What we focus on depends on what you think is most important and will best support you in your health journey.
What Does a Health Coach Actually Do?
A health coach helps you to:
- Clarify your health and lifestyle goals
- Identify patterns and roadblocks that keep you stuck
- Build consistency, confidence and accountability
- Translate recommendations into real-world habits
Health coaching also works great alongside medical, naturopathic, or therapeutic care. Many clients know what they have been told, but feel overwhelmed to implement it. Coaching provides the support in the doing, not just the knowing.
What Health Coaching is Not
It is important to remember that health coaching does not replace medical care or mental health treatment.
Health coaches do not:
- Diagnose conditions
- Prescribe medication or supplements
- Provide psychotherapy or counselling
- Treat disease
Instead, health coaching complements healthcare by supporting behaviour change.
Who is Health Coaching For?
Health coaching may be a good fit if you:
- Feel stuck despite “knowing what to do”
- Want accountability and structure
- Are working with other practitioners and need help implementing their recommendations
- Want a more integrated, whole-person approach to health
Whether you are focused on metabolic health, stress, energy, lifestyle, chronic disease, or overall well-being, coaching meets you where you are and helps you move forward from there.

Why Health Coaching Works
We live in a world overflowing with information. However information alone does not create change, implementation does.
Health coaching helps to bridge the gap between “knowing what to do” and “actually doing it” by using:
- Evidence-based principles
- Behavioural change science
- Compassionate, human support
Leading to change that feels grounded, realistic, and sustainable.
Final Thoughts
Health coaching is not about being told what to do or doing everything perfectly.
It is about being supported as you learn how to implement what you already know in a way that aligns with your life and values.
If you’re ready to move forward with intention and support, then health coaching may be right for you.
